Rilyn Thury drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Lady Pirates past Chester 12-9 onTuesday.AfterJordynVoigt led off the game with a single, Thury hit a home run to left field making the score 2-0. Chester responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the first, 4 in the second and 2 in the third making the score 8-2 Flyers. The Lady Pirates got off the mat in the 4th when Rowan Brandt reached on a fielder’s choiceandAbbyGretschmann washitbyapitch.JordynVoigt thendoubled,scoringtworuns. Macy Voigt singled scoring J. Voigt and just like that the Pirates were back in the game. The Pirates added two more in the 6th when Rilyn Thury and Pria Sesler walked, advanced on a wild pitch and with two outs were driven in on a single by Brielle Voigt making the score 8-7. In the bottom of the 6th, the Flyers threatened to score when a runner reached second with one out. However, MacyVoigtstruckthenexttwo batters out. The Lady Pirates flipped the game on its head in the top of the seventh, scoring five runs on five hits to take the lead. Abby Gretschmann got things started with a sharp single to right field. Jordyn Voigt followed with a double so the Pirates had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Rilyn Thury then doubled, scoring both J. Voigt and Gretschmann giving the Pirates a 9-8 lead. Macy Voigt then singled scoring Thury andPriaSeslerwalked.Brielle Voigt then delivered another huge two out double scoring both M. Voigt and Sesler to take a 12-8 lead. Chester tried to rally in the bottom of the 7th scoring one, but Macy Voigt was able to get the last two hitters to ground out to the pitcher sealing the win for the Pirates. Macy Voigt pitched a complete game allowing 13 hits and nine runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking five. With the win the Pirates advance to the South Dakota State Softball Tournament and will face Alcester-Hudson on Thursday at 10:00 in Aberdeen.
