JR. SR. DOUBLEHEADER IN ALEXANDRIA

On Monday, June 9, Wagner’s Post 11 Junior and Senior Legion teams traveled to Alexandria for a doubleheader. In the first contest Wagner lost a tight, extra-inning game by a score of 4-3. Edward Ulrich started the game and lasted 6.2 innings and did a fine job of keeping us in the game. He gave up three earned runs on nine hits while walking five and striking out nine. After reaching his pitch limit, Avery Medicine was called upon in a tight situation. There were two runners on with two outs upon his arrival. He walked the first batter but induced the following hitter into an inning ending pop up to the shortstop to send the game into extras. After Wagner went down quietly in the top of the 8th, Alexandria started the inning with a double off the wall, advancing to third on a throwing error. Avery kept his composure and got the next man to hit a harmless infield fly for the first out. Unfortunately, Alexandria would score the game winning run after the runner from third got in a rundown that was mishandled.
