Read moreSharon Van Gerpen drove to Hull, Iowa last Tuesday where she had dinner with her mother, Bernice Heusinkveld at Aspen Heights. Sharon's sister, Betty Zoet of Hull joined them for coffee. On Friday, Sharon drove back to Hull to visit her mother again, taking with her Lindsey, Dax, and Addi Fathke who were happy they could visit with their grandmother and great-grandmother, Bernice.

Read moreOn March 7th, at 12:34 p.m., members of the Avon Fire Department responded to their first grass fire of the new year at a farm southeast of Avon. Prior to arrival, the landowner was able to keep the fire from spreading to a row of trees. The perimeter of the fire was quickly extinguished, but the Avon Fire Department remained on scene until three large round hay bales that were on fire were on longera threat.

In March the Tyndall Fire Department was given $3,000 and Avon, Springfield, Scotland and Tabor Fire Departments received $2,000 each.
