The Wagner volleyball team traveled to Winner on Tuesday, October 22nd to face the Winner Warriors. Wagner lost in three sets with scores of 11-25, 21-25, and 24-26.

Our fall sports are slowly winding down.Fourmembersofthecross-countryteamqualifiedfor state and will be competing in Rapid City next weekend. The Football team ended the season 7-1 and will be competing in the playoffs on Thursday night. Region Volleyball is quickly approaching. Other activities such as Oral Interp, HOSA, etc are also getting in full swing. The band and chorus are preparing for their fall and winter concerts. It is great to see students reach out of their comfort zone and perform in public. I don’t believe we fully appreciate the risk students take to put themselves out in the public where everyone can see them succeed or fail. It builds discipline, mental toughnessandconfidence.Nomattertheoutcome,wealways need to support these students. A goal at Avon is to have every student be involved in at least one extracurricular activity. We greatly appreciate the community attendance and financial support of all our extracurricular activities! At the same time, our teachers are constantly developing engaging and challenging curriculum to grow each student academically. Finally, next week we invite everyone to the Veteran’s Day program on November 11 at 2:45 in the school gymnasium.
Read moreIt was a crazy, windy day as the Wagner Cross Country Team stepped onto the running course in Elk Point on Thursday, September 17th. This was the Region Race for The Raiders which is Region 3A. It is a tough region and it showed to be a challenge to The Wagner Cross Country members. Only the top 20 finishers get to move onto state.

Read moreThe Wagner Lady Red Raiders hosted the Parkston Trojans for their annual Dig Pink Match on Tuesday, October 15th. It was a great battle but the Red Raiders fell short in the fifth set. Scores of the match were 25-19, 29-31, 16-25, 25-21, and 12-15.
Read moreAt last week’s October 18th Friday night matchup of the Tripp-Delmont/Armour Andes Central/Dakota Christian football team against the Alcester-Hudson Cubs, the Thunderhawks were victorious with a final score of 58-32. Offensively, Hunter Loeffler led the charge with 118 rushing yards, four passing yards, 28 receiving yards, and three two-point conversions. Loeffler was followed by teammate, Isaac Wunder who had 105 passing yards, 111 rushing yards, four receiving yards, one pass touchdown, one rush touchdown, and two two-point conversions. Garth Maas ran 131 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Also putting offensive numbers on the board for the Thunderhawks were Sabas DeHaan, Alex Werkmeister, and Brayden Ziegler. For the Thunderhawk defense, Riley Spaans led the team with 10.5 tackles and one and a half tackles for loss. Dalton Westendorf had seven tackles, two and a half tackles for loss, and one sack. He was followed by Maas who had six and a half tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass break up. Other members of the team that helped the Thunderhawks on defense included Ty Archambeau, Payton Westendorf, Sabas DeHaan, Traesone Weatherford, AJ Johnson, Wunder, Loeffler and Kashton Garcia.
