Read moreAvera sponsored an event to begin Breast Cancer Awareness Month at the Fort Randall Casino on Friday, September 29th. Avera was able to bring the mobile mammogram unit to the Fort Randall Casino for breast cancer screenings, due to a grant from the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Even though Avera sponsored the event, it was because of local breast cancer survivor, Marci Uribe, that this event was created and took place.
Read moreRF Buche became the new owner of Abby’s in Pickstown on September 12. Abby’s is in the process of becoming a Gus Stop, the 9th in Buche’s retail chain. This Gus Stop will be unique though. The new Gus Stop in Pickstown will become a sportsman’s destination. Although not all the details are set in stone, Buche plans to carry bait and tackle products, camping supplies, rafts, fishing poles, etc. He wants anyone who is passing through to be able to pick up reasonably priced fishing and camping items that will make for a great weekend without having to go broke enjoying Pickstown and the surrounding outdoor adventures the area has to offer.

For the past 27 years, Sharon has been a customer service representative for the company. She has taken care of service orders, ordered materials for the office, and assisted customers with various questions and concerns. When Sharon and her late husband, Bruce first moved to Wagner, she was looking for a change from her career of working for attorneys. When she met the Hansen family who owned the Fort Randall Telephone Company, she found her next career. Sharon’s favorite part of working for the Fort Randall Telephone Company is that it is a family-owned faith-based company. Everyone who works for the company has become family to her.
