Dwight Wood Post #132 of Springfield is holding their third annual golf tournament on Saturday, August 10 at the Springfield Golf Course. This fun event is one of the ways that the Post uses to raise funds so that they can support various local projects like Boys State, Americanism programs in the local schools, flag disposals and other ways that emphasize their support of Americanism.

Read moreRodeoing runs through the Talsma blood. This is especially true when it comes to Treyvan Talsma following in the footsteps of his father, Ty, and older brother, Terran. Treyvan who ended up placing 11th at the 2024 National High School Rodeo in the steer wrestling event. Talsma has been competing in rodeos since he was in junior high when he father first got him startedinthesteerwrestling event. He instantly became interested in competing in steer wrestling because of how well his father did at the event and Ty’s passion for it. Treyvan competes in high school rodeos, 4-H rodeo and amateur rodeos. The events that Treyvan is involved in are team roping, steer wrestling and tie down roping. When asked if he had a favorite, Treyvan said he did not as he enjoys competing in each of the three events.

The Gary Pepper Award is named in honor of longtime Scotland resident and athletic booster Gary Pepper who passed away this spring. Gary was instrumental in organizing the Little Missouri Valley Softball League during its inception. The award takes into consideration regular season finish, postseason finish, and sportsmanship in all three age divisions: 10U, 14U and 18U. Teams from 15 different towns competed in the LMVL this summer. This seasonAvonfinishedasrunner- up in 10U, runner-up in 14U and champions in 18U.

Please enter Pine Street from the North (Old Hwy 50 or 2nd Street). Drive South to the front of the school where your child can be dropped off by the main entrance. As you leave Pine Street on the south end, you can go straight, or turn east or west to leave the school. High school students will enter from the North and turn into the parking lot. If they have younger students with them, they will all walk from the parking lot.
