CHARLES MIX 4-H MEMBERS AND VOLUNTEERS GET READY FOR COUNTY FAIR!

Come on out to the County Fair August 8th and 9th. On the 8th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be food trucks and a community BBQ at 5:00 p.m. with a watermelon eating contest, the beef show and sheep show are held that day, with shows starting at noon. On the 9th from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. a community breakfast will be held, the swine, dairy, goat, poultry, rabbit and companion animal shows are held the 9th starting at 8 a.m. You can beat the heat by taking a break in the A/C to check out all the display exhibits! Come on out to see the hard work for the Charles Mix 4-H members!

W CLUB CREATED TO CHANGE WCS BOOSTER CLUB PROGRAM

Wagner Community School officially changed its booster club fundraising program on August 1st for the 2024-2025 school year. What used to be individual booster clubs raising funds has since become the W Club which encompasses all of the WCS fundraising organizations. The purpose of the W Club is to organize donations given from the community to school sponsored events. The goal of this new program is to eliminate fundraising that the individual booster clubs were doing that involved selling items to the people in the Wagner community.

SEVEN-YEAR-OLD ORGANIZES FOOD DRIVE TO STOCK THE NEEDY NOOK

When seven-year-old, Ellie Leines, a second grader at Wagner Community School heard that the Needy Nook in Marty was in need of food donations, she felt sad. Ellie was sad that some people might not have any food, and she wanted to be able to help them. Ellie’s mom had shared with Ellie that she saw on Facebook that the Needy Nook’s pantry was essentially empty. Ellie with the help of her mom, Lucy, and grandma, Rose, organized a food drive to stock the shelves of the Needy Nook. The event was held at Stems and Cells on August 1st from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
