WAGNER FALLS SHORT IN FIFTH SET AGAINST PARKSTON

The Wagner Lady Red Raiders hosted the Parkston Trojans for their annual Dig Pink Match on Tuesday, October 15th. It was a great battle but the Red Raiders fell short in the fifth set. Scores of the match were 25-19, 29-31, 16-25, 25-21, and 12-15.

DIG PINK NIGHT

The Wagner High School volleyball team held their annual Dig Pink night on Tuesday, October 15th against the Parkston Trojans. As October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, both the Parkston and Wagner teams partnered with Apparel WorX to sell t-shirts for what has become an annual Parkston vs Wagner Dig for a Cure game. Every year, Apparel WorX designs a t-shirt for the game with both communities able to purchase. The team that sells the most shirts received a $100 donation from Apparel WorX. All attending fans were encouraged to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Players for the Wagner team even threw out mini pink volleyballs to fans after the starting lineup was announced.

WAGNER FALLS SHORT OF MAKING STATE

It was a crazy, windy day as the Wagner Cross Country Team stepped onto the running course in Elk Point on Thursday, September 17th. This was the Region Race for The Raiders which is Region 3A. It is a tough region and it showed to be a challenge to The Wagner Cross Country members. Only the top 20 finishers get to move onto state.

PRESCHOOLERS LEARN ABOUT FIRE SAFETY AND PREVENTION

In honor of October being National Fire Prevention Safety Month, the Wagner Volunteer Fire Department invited the WCS preschool classes to come to the fire department and learn more about fire safety as well as the different tools and trucks that firefighters use at different fires on Friday, October 18th. There were several of the firefighters present and in gear to demonstrate to the preschoolers what firefighters have to wear when they are called to fight fires. The presentation was led by Fire Chief, Mike Insko. The firefighters had brought out three of their rigs for the demonstration with Mike and the groups moving to all three rigs to explain what each was used for and what kind of tools could be found on the different trucks.

3RD AND 4TH GRADE FLAG FOOTBALL SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE

Avon's 3rd and 4th grade boys had another successful flag football season this year. They were in the 7 on 7 flag football league in Yankton and have played every Saturday for the past 6 weeks, playing two teams every weekend.
