PINK SHIRT DONATION PRESENTED

The Post Prom Committee and Avon/Dante Pink Ladies presented a check to Rick and Mary Hurd during Friday's football game from proceeds raised from pink shirt sales and the Avon/Dante Pink Ladies who made a matching donation to the cause. Mary and Rick have two daughters, Elizabeth (Matt) Edney and Sara (Brian) Hammell and seven grandchildren.

AWANA CLUBS TRICK OR TREAT SO OTHERS CAN EAT EVENT

The Awana Clubs at First Baptist Church will again be having their Trick or Treat So Others Can Eat event this year on Wednesday, October 30. Between the times of 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm they will be going through the streets of Avon collecting items to be taken to the Bon Homme Food Pantry in Tyndall. Items that are currently in greater need are: cereal (hot or cold), personal care items (toothpaste and brushes, shampoo), taco fixings, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats, pasta and sauces, paper products, and ketchup. If you have items you would like the children to pick up, please have a light on at your door and they will stop. If you will not be home and would like to donate you may leave your items in the entry of First Baptist Church anytime on October 30. The Food Pantry has been amazed and appreciative of the generosity of the people of Avon in response to this event. Thank you for your participation.

THUNDERHAWKS SOAR PAST THE CUBS

At last week’s October 18th Friday night matchup of the Tripp-Delmont/Armour Andes Central/Dakota Christian football team against the Alcester-Hudson Cubs, the Thunderhawks were victorious with a final score of 58-32. Offensively, Hunter Loeffler led the charge with 118 rushing yards, four passing yards, 28 receiving yards, and three two-point conversions. Loeffler was followed by teammate, Isaac Wunder who had 105 passing yards, 111 rushing yards, four receiving yards, one pass touchdown, one rush touchdown, and two two-point conversions. Garth Maas ran 131 rushing yards and four touchdowns. Also putting offensive numbers on the board for the Thunderhawks were Sabas DeHaan, Alex Werkmeister, and Brayden Ziegler. For the Thunderhawk defense, Riley Spaans led the team with 10.5 tackles and one and a half tackles for loss. Dalton Westendorf had seven tackles, two and a half tackles for loss, and one sack. He was followed by Maas who had six and a half tackles, two tackles for loss, and one pass break up. Other members of the team that helped the Thunderhawks on defense included Ty Archambeau, Payton Westendorf, Sabas DeHaan, Traesone Weatherford, AJ Johnson, Wunder, Loeffler and Kashton Garcia.
