The Lady Raiders traveled to O’Neill to take on the Eagles last Tuesday night in girls basketball action. This would be the 3rd game in 4 days for the Raiders. That wouldn’t slow the Raiders down as they jumped out to an early 9-1 lead and rolled to a 75-27 victory. Emma Yost and Ashly Koupal would both record double- doubles. Emma would finish with 22 points, 12 boards, and 3 assists. Ashlyn would score a game high 23 points, 10 boards and dish out 3 assists. Shalayne Nagle would reach double figures with 13 points, 5 boards, a team high 6 steals and dish out 3 assists. Lydia Yost would finish with 8 points, 5 steals, and 2 assists. Macy Koupal would add 3 points, dish out a team high 6 assists, and get 3 steals. Eve Zephier also netted 3 points, dished out 4 assists, and had 2 steals. Braxton Nedved rounded out the scoring with 3 points. The Raiders were 31-49 from the floor for 63% while holding the Eagles to 9-33 shooting for 27 %. Wagner out rebounded O’Neill 31-17. “Another great effort both offensively and defensively. We did a great job in transition off of turnover again with us staying wide in our lanes. Still need to be a bit more patient on offense and just get some reversals out of it to limit some turnovers.”

Matt Link added 9, Parker Petry and Ted Slaba 7 each, Joey Cournoyer 5, Chris Nelson 4, and Preston McFayden 3. Wanger falls to 4-5 for the season.

Wagner was tied 1414 with O’Neill after 1 quarter and trailed 24-21 at half time. O’Neill held a 37-32 lead heading into the final period before Wagner outscored them 8-3 to get a 43-40 victory. Parker Petry led the team with 10 points, Preston McFayden added 9, Joey Cournoyer and Braxton Knudsen each scored 8, Hunter Lhotak 6 and Gabe Houseman 2. Wagner’s JV is now 8-1 on the season.

Both teams started strong offensively, Ethan took a 17-15 lead into the second quarter. The Rustlers and Red Raiders traded baskets through the second quarter, the Red Raiders trailed 37-29 at half time. Ethan doubled Wagner’s quarter score which proved to be the difference in the game. Wagner lost 66-53 to the 8-1 Rustlers. Preston McFayden led the team with 14 points, Parker Petry, Matt Link, and Ted Slaba each scored 8 points. Chris Nelson added 6, Carter Cournoyer 4, Theron Zephier 3 and Joey Cournoyer 2.

Wagner managed just 3 points in the first period and fell behind 12-3. The Red Raiders battled the rest of the game but never got a lead, trailing 29-21 at halftime, 44-33 after 3 quarters and lost the game by a final score of 56-42. The Red Raiders fell behind 12-10 after the first period but outscored Parkston 11-4 in the second quarter to take a 21-16 lead into half time. Wagner led 31-25 heading into the fourth quarter. The Red Raiders hit a late 3 pointer in regulation to send the game into overtime. The Trojans hit a runner in the paint as the final buzzer went off to win the game 4442. Brady Cournoyer led the team with 11 points, Shae Kjeldgaard had 9 points, Deshwan Sully added 8, Ky Arpan and Dominic Doom scored 5 each, Kobe Drapeau and Jesse Zephier each scored 2. The C team is now 1-1.

The Red Raider JV team improved to 7-1 with the win.
