The Red Raider boys extended their winning streak to 4 games on Saturday with a big win over the Corsica Stickney Jaguars. Wagner jumped out to a 13-7 lead and led 31-13 at the half. Wagner pulled away in the second half winning by a final score of 59--31. Matt Link led the way for Wagner scoring 22 points and he had 7 steals. Chris Nelson scored 12, Carter Cournoyer added 7, Ted Slaba and Preston McFayden each added 6, Glenn Cournoyer, Hunter Lhotak and Braxton Knudsen each scored 2.

The Red Raiders played better defense in the second half. Wagner cut Gregory’s lead to 3 but could not get any closer. Gregory won the game by a final score of 58-48. Carter Cournoyer had a team high 12 points, Matt Link an Preston McFayden each scored 9. Chris Nelson added 7, Glenn Cournoyer 5, Ted Slaba 4 and Joey Cournoyer 2.

The Red Raiders locked down their opponent in the second period and took a 23-9 lead into the half. Wagner won the game by a final score of 47-26. Joey Cournoyer led Wagner in scoring with 13 points, Jesse Zephier added 8, Preston McFayden 6, Parker Petry and Carlos Galindo each had 4, Braxton Knudsen and Deshawn Sully each scored 3 and Frank Soukup and Brady Cournoyer each added 2.

Read moreThe Raiders competed on Thursday, January 12th in a make-up dual against Vermillion that was originally scheduled for December 15th. Wagner capped its first dual victory win of the season 48-33. The week of January 14th was the first full week of practice and competition that we have had since the week of December 17th. Some of the short weeks were due to Christmas break, but mostly because of the poor weather conditions. The Raiders finished the weekend in Tri-Valley with tournament action where they finished in ninth place as a team. The month of January will be packed with competitions, starting Tuesday, January 17th in White Lake with duals against Kimball/White Lake/Platte/Geddes, Faulkton, and McCook. We’ll close the week in Winner at the Winner Invitational on Saturday.
