Avon’s police force has a new enlistee. Officer Theodore Smith took the Officer/Chief position October 30th of 2023. Officer Smith has ten years of experience in law enforcement. Prior to taking the position in Avon, he was working for the Winner City Jail as a transport officer. His experience and education in law enforcement is quite extensive. He has worked as the Deputy Sheriff for McPhersonCountyandas a Reserve Police Officer for Sturgis. Smith also has a bachelor’s degree in history from Black Hills State University and an associate’s degree in Law Enforcement from Western Dakota Tech.

Kabat Management Internship Program”, otherwise known as MIP. The MIP is a comprehensive six-week program sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), and required Mike to attend three two-week sessions held on-campus at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In addition to the on-site classes, Mike completed, on his own time, several online courses and an in-depth individual project designed to apply what he had learned in the classroom to a practical, real-life situation. The project was required to correspond to a real-life situation or opportunity that could arise at a rural electric cooperative.
Read moreAnyone who has been to the Wagner Post Office recently may have seen a new face behind the counter and in the office. As of December 2nd, Wagner has a new postmaster, Callie Strand. This is Callie’s first position as a postmaster, but she comes to the position with a breadth of knowledge and experience. In her most recent position with the post office, she worked as a clerk and did a lot of traveling. With this position, she traveled all over northern Minnesota helping in different offices where needed. This was a great opportunity for her to learn from different postmasters and different sized post offices and distribution centers. Callie saw and was exposed to many different aspects of the postal service, making her a great candidate to move up to the postmaster level.
