This is a Christ centered prayer ministry made of of Moms and other interested ladies desiring to pray for the students and the school. The organization was started over 30 years ago by Fern Nichols. She, along with one other lady met to pray for their children as they started school. That small beginning has grown into an International Organization that has praying groups in all 50 states and over 120 countries.

Read moreYou may have noticed cars with out of state license plates at the Library, Tuesday- Thursday. The Lake Andes Public Library played host to Lutheran Services of America, Lutheran Social Services of SD, The SCAN Foundation and the Public Policy Lab from New York City. The groups were here to interview local older adults as part of their Rural Voices 2025: Elevating the Resilience of Rural Older Adults Navigating Medicare-Medicaid, a human-centered initiative that uplifts the lived experiences of low-income older adults in rural and frontier communities. The project addresses persistent disparities in healthcare access and aging policy by engaging rural older adults directly in conversations that shape national solutions.

Thanks to their generosity, 20 units of blood were collected from 16 donors - enough to help up to 60 patients at local hospitals. One first-time donor also joined the LifeServe Blood Center community, underscoring the power of neighbors helping neighbors.
Read moreMatthew Kokes, the son of Jay and Lori Kokes, was the Wagner American Legion’s 2025 Boys State delegate. South Dakota Boys State was held at Northern State University in Aberdeen on June 2-6. When asked why he applied to attend Boys State, Matthew said it was because he wanted to learn more about how the government worked, the behind-the-scenes processes and to network with others from across the state. When Matthew found out that he had been chosen as Wagner’s delegate, he was very excited. Going into the event, all that Matthew knew was that it was a chance for young people like himself that were interested in government to get first-hand experience while learning.
