SCHOFIELD’S REBRAND AND REVAMP LOCAL MOTEL

The Circle H Motel & RV Campground has a new name and new owners. Mark and Angela Schofield officially purchased the Circle H Motel & RV Campground in January of 2024. Along with new ownership comes a rebranding of the motel. The Schofield’s decided that The Lake Andes Inn was a much better fit for the hotel. Another reason that they renamed the motel was because they felt there was a disconnect with the name and the area.

SVATOS PLACES 12TH AT STATE GOLF MEET

Andes Central golfer, Abigail Svatos, took home 12th place at the annual Class B State Golf Meet on June 3rd and 4th at Edgebrook Golf Course in Brookings. Abigail is the daughter of Ryan and Erica Svatos and the granddaughter of Dan and Martha Svatos and Al and Marcia Podzimek.

Harrington Retires from Andes Central After 30 Years After 30 years of working for the Andes Central School District, Beth Harrington has decided to retire. Beth was a 5th grade teacher.

ROUSE HONORED AS JUNE VETERAN OF THE MONTH

Earnest Rouse enlisted in the Army in 1951 at the age of 16 with the signature of his mother. Rouse had two older brothers who were already paratroopers in the Army and Rouse wanted to continue the family legacy even if he was not quite of age yet to enlist himself. He is a Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

Three (3), three year terms for school board member, were voted upon at the Andes Central School Board election held on June, 4, 2024: The candidates on the ballot were incumbents Nicole Gray, Debbra Houseman and Kristin Dvorak and challenger Kelly Tschumper. The unofficial election returns are as follows: Nicole Gray - 87 Debbra J. Houseman - 53 Kelly Tschumper - 97 Kristin M. Dvorak - 47 The number of registered voters of the school district on the date voter registration closed – 1,291.
