PARKVIEW VILLA RESIDENTS INVITE TRICK OR TREATERS TO GET TREATS

Residents of Parkview Villa Apartments are inviting all area “Trick or Treaters” to stop by for some treats on Halloween night. Residents of the apartments are hoping area children can stop by the apartments and get some treats as they make their rounds during the evening. It is the hope of the residents that they can join in the fun and be able to see all the great costumes the children will have on that evening. The residents will be waiting at the front door of the apartment building with treats to hand out to children who are out having their “trick or treat” fun.

WAGNER COMMUNITY SCHOOL STUDENTS ATTEND SCRUB CAMP

The Wagner Community School had four high school students and school prevention nurse, Kelly Cimpl, attend Scrub Camp on October 15th. Scrub Camp was sponsored by the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) and held in Yankton at the Physician’s Pavilion. The camp was open to any high school student who is interested in a career in the medical field. The goal of this camp is to allow students the opportunity to look at different careers and areas that the medical field has to offer. Camps like this one allow students who are curious about future careers in the medical field to take part in some hands-on training to aid in preparing them to decide what areas appeal the most to them. The camp featured a wide range of medical careers ranging from direct patient care to administrative duties and everything in between.

KISELY HONORED AS WAGNER'S VETERAN OF THE MONTH

The American Legion Auxiliary Greer Unit #11 is honoring Robert Kisely as the October Veteran of the Month. Robert was drafted into the army in 1960 at the age of 21. After being drafted, Robert was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, MO where he and other draftees were sorted to be sent to different Army Training Installations. He was sent to Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX to complete his basic training. Robert then spent the next six months receiving training as an Ajax Missile technician/ operator. Once Robert had finished his training, he ended up spending the rest of his military career in an office at the Fort Bliss Army Base where in addition to doing paperwork, he also trained others on the Ajax Missile systems. Robert can remember not wanting to work an office job, but that is where he was assigned as he was needed to fill an open position. In 1962, Robert was honorably discharged from Fort Bliss and drove himself back to South Dakota as he had his own car.

WAGNER SWEEPS AC/DC IN THREE SETS

The Wagner volleyball team traveled to Lake Andes to take on the Thunder on Thursday, October 17th. The Lady Red Raiders won with scores of 2517, 25-14, and 25-18.
