WILLIAMS TAKES DOWN 154 POUND MOUNTAIN LION

Three years ago, Brandon Williams decided that he wanted to try to hunt for bobcats. What started out as trying to trap bobcats ended up leading Williams to become successful in hunting mountain lions. On January 19, 2025, the male mountain lion that Williams had been tracking for the past two years walked by his trail camera. Williams began tracking the cat and was able to tree the seven-year-old, 154-pound mountain lion before taking the kill shot.

SDSU Extension Bon Homme County Office will host a free private applicator Zoom Webinar training on February 12th, 2025 from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. CST at the 4-H Center, 1910 Birch St. Tyndall. Online registration is required by February 12th, 2025 at noon to attend. In-person seating is limited.

The pace of the session has really picked up this week. 269 Housebillsand219Senatebills havebeenintroduced.Committees are diligently working to give each bill its fair hearing. Education savings accounts, also referred to as school vouchers, have been one of the biggest issues this session. The bills were strongly opposed by our public schools and educators anddiedincommittee.Ido not believe there is an appetite in the legislature to revisit the concept. I applaud the hundreds of friends in District 19 for reaching out on the cause.

FIRST ANNUAL TOM STUDELSKA INVITATIONAL WRESTLING TOURNAMENT HELD

Tom Studelska was a pioneer in the sport of wrestling since the late 1950s. He was on the first wrestling team in Parkston in 1959. After high school, Tom played a significant role in starting wrestling at the University of South Dakota Springfield where he wrestled as part of the team for three years in addition to being a four-year letter winner in football.
