The bird flu is widespread in wild birds throughout the world and is currently causing outbreaks in poultry, dairy cattle and even causing several human cases.

CHARLES MIX COUNTY 4-H JUNIOR LEADER SPOTLIGHT

The Charles-Mix County 4-H Club Junior Leader’s Reporters for the 2024-2025 season are Marin Bultje and Callie Bergin. Marin is the daughter of Brice and Darci Bultje; Callie is the daughter of Jayme and Jr. Bergin. Marin resides in Lake Andes, while Callie lives in Wagner, but attends Andes Central. Marin has been a part of the Charles-Mix County 4-H Club for the past eight years as she started when she was eight years old. Callie has been a part of 4-H for the past five years beginning when she was 10 years of age.

Three students represented Andes Central at the Regional Vocal Contest held in Kimball on February 5th. Emery performed “Greensleeves” and received a Superior or a I; Madilyn performed “A Poor Wayfaring Stranger” and received a Superior or a I; Taylor performed “The Water is Wide” and received an Excellent or a II.

NATIONAL FFA WEEK

This year National FFA Week is celebrated on February 15th – February 22nd. It is a week where chapters share with their school peers what FFA is and the role that FFA plays in members’ everyday lives. The mission of FFA is to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding the growing population of the United States through teaching various ag related topics including technology, science, business, food, etc. It is a week-long event that allows members to develop their potential for leadership, personal growth and career success in creative and innovative ways while involving their non-FFA peers. In honor of National FFA Week, the officers of the Andes Central FFA are sharing what FFA means to them and the role it plays in their lives.
