Thursday, March 12th was the final day of the 95th Legislative Session. On Monday March 30th we will again return to the Capitol for Veto day. As of March 11th, Governor Noem had signed 78 House Bills and 27 Senate Bills leaving 30 bills on her desk. At this point she has two Gubernatorial vetoes. Funeral Services for Jessica Ann Costello, (Grace Atana Hart) 37, of Lake Andes were Friday, March 13 at the White Swan Community Center. Burial was in St. Phillips Episcopal Cemetery, Lake Andes. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Gary was born to Wesley J. Kaberna and DeElda A. (Newman) Kaberna on June 26, 1940, in Wagner. He attended country schools and graduated from Wagner High School. He attended a semester at South Dakota State in Brookings, before returning to the family farm. At age 25, Gary moved to Nemo, to work at the Nemo Guest Ranch for Uncle Frank Troxell, where he began his cowboy ways.

With the coronavirus causing school to be cancelled, my son brought his schoolwork home. He shared with us a Greek mythology worksheet about Pandora’s Box. If you aren’t familiar, the Greek god Zeus gave a wedding present to beautiful Pandora but instructed her not to open it. Like many of us, impatience and curiosity got the best of her and she opened it anyway which caused a lot of new problems.
