Dale Soulek
Dale Loren Soulek, 59, of Wagner, went to his heavenly home Sunday, January 26, at Wagner Community Hospital in Wagner. A memorial service will take place at a later time.
Dale Loren Soulek was born September 1, 1965, to Walter and Joyce (Hoeksema) Soulek in Wagner, SD. Growing up in Lake Andes, SD, he attended public school and graduated from Andes Central High School. He graduated from the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, SD with a business degree. He worked in Sioux Falls, SD, for a few years before venturing to California where he lived for several years. Next, he moved to New York City where he lived and worked in the service industry for over 20 years. He worked for STK Steak House until he became ill.
Activities Dale enjoyed the most were to cook, take pictures, attend musicals in New York, and travel to many of the places on his bucket list. Dale’s greatest joy, though, was traveling home to the farm severaltimes a year to see his mother. Sometimes they would stay at the farm and tackle projects, bake, and cook. He would make sure there was enough food in the freezer until his next visit. He made everything from scratch, down to the noodles. For Christmas, he made two or three different soups to make sure the nieces had something in their freezers, too. Dale always brought treats from his latest excursions to share with everyone. Other visits home, he and Joyce would travel, visiting family and friends in Eastern South Dakota, Western South Dakota, or Texas - taking different routes to see something new each trip. Dale’s final trip was back to South Dakota for Christmas 2024.
Grateful for having shared his life are his mother, Joyce of Lake Andes; 5 siblings: Raymond Soulek of Lake Andes; Mary Soulek of Lake Andes; Joe Soulek of Wagner; Lisa (Troy) Brumbaugh of Platte, SD; and Paul (Wendy) Soulek of Spearfish, SD; 4 nieces and nephew and their children: Kendra (Jordan) Knudson and their daughter, McKinley of Adrian, MN; Kelly (Jamie) Jorgenson and their son, Sonny of Harrisburg, SD; and Emily Iverson of Sioux Falls; and Sam Soulek of Spearfish.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter; both paternal and maternal grandparents; 2 cousins and several aunts and uncles.
