The Andes Central/Dakota Christian Thunder Cross Country Runners had a very good day at the Burke Invitational Meet on Thursday, October 1. The girls’ team took second place scoring 13 points behind a talented Burke team who had a score of nine. Alcester-Hudson was third. Placers for the Lady Thunder runners were Isabella Brouwer 3rd (20:19), Lexi Schoenfelder 6th (22:12), and Sonya Hansum 10th (23:36).

Isabella Brouwer, Andes Central/Dakota Christian top runner, placed 3rd at the Bon Homme Cross Country Meet on Monday, September 21. Isabella covered the hilly 5000 meter course at the Tyndall Golf Course in 21:57.

It was a pre-region cross country meet at the Platte Golf Course on Saturday, September 26. Fifteen area schools ran in the Meet, which will be the site of this year’s Region 3B Meet on October 14.

The Wagner Red Raiders traveled to Tyndall on Tuesday, September 22nd and came away with another victory to improve their record to 7-1. Scores of the match were 25-16, 25-20, and 25-16.

The Wagner Red Raiders swept Avon in three straight sets with the scores of 25-21, 25-10, and 27-25. Senior outside hitter Abby Brunsing led the attack with 17 kills and sophomore Avari Bruguier added 7 in the win. Setters Macy Koupal and Paige Petry delivered 15 and 13 assists to their hitters at the net. Bruguier and Petry were tough at the service line racking up 11 points, 4 aces, and 12 points and 1 ace in the victory. Brunsing scrambled for 12 digs, while Olivia Breen and Petry added 11 digs each to lead the defense. Freshmen Shona Kocer and Macy Koupal chalked up 5 and 3 blocks up at the net.

Read moreOn Friday, the 4th of September, Wagner traveled to Mount Vernon to face the MVP Titans. They suffered a loss of 52-28 with the Titans pulling ahead in the second quarter. The Titans had more yards than the Raiders, 469-178. Quarterback Jaiden Peters threw 193 yards with 16 completed passes. Three of those passes were touchdowns made by Nolan Carda, Chris Nelson, and Dustin Honomichl. Nolan Dvorak lead in receiving with 83 yards. Nolan Carda stripped the ball on defense and ran 96 yards for a touchdown. Two extra points were kicked by Dustin Honomichl. Nolan Dvorak caught a pass from Jaden Peters and made two extra points as well. The Raiders made 7 points in the first and second quarter, with the final 14 points coming from the fourth quarter. Braden Lhotak lead in defense with 11.5 tackles. Malcolm Janis followed with 7 tackles.
