Monday, February 28, the Avon Boys Basketball Team traveled to Kimball to take on the Kimball-White Lake WildKats for the first round of Region 6B basketball. Unfortunately, the Pirates’ season was cut short due to a 31-54 loss against the WildKats. The Pirates ended the season with a record of 3-18.

On March 9, Mrs. Autumn Schultz's middle school students went to Alcester-Hudson for the Middle School Music Festival. The festival was made up of schools in the southwest part of South Dakota.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian Thunder traveled to Plankinton Tuesday, March, 1st. Their season came to an end after they fell to Mt. Vernon/Plankinton 43-85 in the first round of Region 5A basketball.

The Avon Lady Pirates traveled to the Huron Arena Thursday, March 3rd where they battled a tough DeSmet Bulldog team in the SoDak 16, with a final score of 44-57.

Coach Lindsey Fathke had these remarks on the boys' season. "The 5th, 6th, and Junior High Boys basketball season wrapped up with their home tournament on February 26th. The boys started their season at the beginning of January and have been working hard throughout the season. Their dedication is appreciated as most often they have early morning practices. They show up and work hard! Their progress was fun to see in practice during drills and then to see their skills transfer over to games. Even though there aren't any end of the year awards for 5/6/JH basketball, their season ends with all twenty-one of the athletes making gains and improving throughout the season. Looking forward to what next year will bring!"
