What began as a Mennonite Church and named Friedensberg Mennonite Church of Avon finally became an independent bible church in 2010. With a new denomination, came the new name of Friedensberg Bible Church. The last official membership count was 85 members. Most Sundays there are between 30 and 40 people that attend the small, serene country church. Being a part of a small rural church is something that Friedensberg Bible Church goers enjoy the most. It is the family-like atmospherethatkeepspeoplecoming back and continuing to attend through generations of families.

Field first took the interim superintendent position for Avon on January 2nd of this year. He was happy to take the shortterm position in Avon because he has always enjoyed the small and mid-sized school culture. Fieldenjoysaschoolsettingthat allowsforthegettingtoknowof the students, staff, parents and community well. This is especially important to Field as he believes that education is about buildingandsustainingpositive and productive relationships with all stakeholders. In the short time that Field has been in Avon, he can see that there is a great amount of pride for the school district and outstanding support from the community. Being an Avon Pirate is something very special as is evident to Field by so many of the staff members coming back home to Avon to work and raise their families.

One of the several areas that was closed due to flooding was Highway 37 at the Emanuel Creek Bridge. The Bon Homme County Emergency Management Manager, Eric Elsberry, reports the county currently has 300 sites they are evaluating for flood damage.
