A special session will be held by the Wagner City Council to hear the request made by Gerrit Juffer for the repeal of the Wagner ETJ at 5:30 p.m. this coming Thursday, June 20th. Anyone interested in the Repeal of the ordinance should plan to attend this city council meeting.

Read moreLibby Renbarger, a local teacher from Wagner Community school, has been selected as an NEH Summer Scholar from a national applicant pool to attend one of 43 summer teacher workshops supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Endowment is a federal agency that, each summer, supports these enrichment opportunities at colleges, universities, and cultural institutions so teachers can study with experts in humanities disciplines and strengthen placebased humanities teaching.

Weber is getting familiar with sitting in the President’s chair which he will soon occupy for the next year. The Rotary calendar year goes from July 1st to June 30th each year. The only guest for the day was Rotarian Jeff Doom’s Uncle, Bob Maeyaert on his mother’s side of the Doom family. Bob is from Dickenson, North Dakota.
Read moreOn June 9th, 2024, the Wagner Pool Fundraising Group known as Catch the Wave received a matching donation award of $200,000 dollars from the Arlene Kirby family to support their efforts to build a new pool. Kirby’s involvement was because relationship with the South Dakota Community Foundation, the parent organization of the Wagner Area Foundation Fund. This award will raise the current and pledged funds raised by the group to 628,000 with their final goal being to raise 1 million dollars from the community. Alto though Kirby is not a member of the Wagner community her father grew up here. She spent many summers in the area playing with her cousins in the Wagner pool that have left her with many fond memories of the town.

Read moreThe 605 Unity Jam hosted the cardboard boat regatta on Sunday, June 9th. A regatta is a sporting event consisting of a series of boat races. The regatta is an annual fundraiser for the Wagner Pool Fundraising.
Read moreThe Wagner Community School high school basketball coaches put on a 3rd through 12th grade basketball camp May 28th through the 31st. Coaches that were involved in the camp included Mike Koupal, Josh Davies, Tera Koupal and Courtney Mack. The camp worked on fundamentals with both the younger and older kids and allowed them to display the things they learned during some full court games. The camp also held contests. It was great for both the kids and the coaches to get into the gym and have some fun while improving their skills.
