The Fort Randall Casino organized a Bigfoot Conference this past June 7th and 8th. The goal of this conference was to spread awareness, educate people on the purpose of this type of conference, to find definitive proof and to help write a law to protect the Bigfoot species.
Read moreBrenda Jaton (Wagner City Council member) and Mayor, Tammy Thorton, attended the 2024 South Dakota State University (SDSU) Energize Conference held May 22nd and 23rd in Hot Springs. This was the first time that anyone from Wagner had attended the event. There were approximately 140 people registered for the conference representing communities from all across South Dakota. Previous energize conferences have been hosted in DeSmet, Lemmon, Milbank, Fort Pierre and Wessington Springs.

The bank was chartered by Thomas C. Pier in Kingsburg. Pier got his start in banking working in banking in Ravinia. The Community Bank then moved to Avon in 1933 as the town of Kingsburg began to wither. Another reason for the bank’s change in location is that at the time, Avon did not haveanotheroperatingbankand Pier wanted to better be able to serve the banking needs of the public. The Community Bank of Avon has a past history of and is currently a family ran business. The bank is a stock corporation that is owned by the extended Pier family as its shareholders. Pier family members also serve as Officers and Directors for the bank.
