On January 21, twenty Wagner Girl Scouts, as well as parents toured the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital-Avera. The girls toured different departments including Physical Therapy, Clinic, Laboratory, Radiology and the Emergency Room. The girl scouts were able to see how these departments can help patients and were able communicate with medical staff in Sioux Falls through E-Emergency services. At the completion of the tour, the Girls Scouts participated in a First Aid presentation. The girls were able to put together a few first aid supplies for their backpack. The tour and first aid presentation was conducted by hospital staff member, Connie Kaufman.

Jamie joined the department as he enjoyed serving his hometown community and helping its residents. He was approached by some good friends of his who were already a part of the fire department making it an easy decision for Jamie to join. Jamie is the first member of his immediate family to be a volunteer firefighter.

Juffer had chosen In the Good Ol’ Summertime and the participation was so dismal that he insisted we sing something we all knew well. We proceeded to sing Viva La Rotary! And did and fine job of it.

Read moreAt the January meeting of the Wagner American Legion Auxiliary, it was decided that the unit would assemble and mail out care packages to soldiers with local ties that were either deployed or who had recently enlisted and were still in their individual trainings. The unit wanted to let the soldiers know that their service was appreciated and that their hometown community was proud of them. The available ladies met on Saturday, January 18th at the American Legion Hall to gather all of the care package supplies and to assemble them. They assembled five packages in total filled to the brim with snacks and games for the soldiers. Two care packages were sent overseas and three were sent stateside. Auxiliary members donated the care package items and postage.
