COLLEEN WIECHMANN
Due to current health concerns, private funeral services for Colleen Wiechmann, 93, of Lake Andes were held Saturday, May 23 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes.
Colleen Helen Wiechmann was born February 11, 1927 at Sioux City, IA, the daughter of Charles and Helen (Bryan) Craighead. She died Monday, May 18, 2020 at the Lake Andes Senior Living Center in Lake Andes.
Colleen graduated from high school in Sioux City, IA in 1945. She was united in marriage to Willard “Curly” Reinschmidt on July 11, 1945. They lived in Sioux City until moving to Lake Andes in 1948, where they bought the Dew Drop Inn cafe. In 1951, they moved to Parkston. In 1952, they moved back to Lake Andes and bought the White Spot Cafe. They sold the cafe in 1955 and bought The Bend (Schriars Corner). In 1963 she started working at Pete’s Cafe and worked there for 15 years. Curly died in July of 1971. She married Dale Svatos on January 12,1974. He died in February of 1976. Colleen married Noel Wiechmann on October 14, 1978. She moved to his farm north of Wagner. They retired in 2001 and moved into Wagner. Noel died on October 25, 2005. She moved to the Westside Estates in 2010 and entered the Lake Andes Senior Living Center in 2018.
Colleen will be remembered for her love for spending time with her grand, great and greatgreat grandkids. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, embroidering and word search books.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors of America and AARP.
Thankful for having shared her life are her four children: Linda Krcil of Avon, Leatha (Richard) Dvorak of Lake Andes, Kevin (Norma) Reinschmidt of Eagle, Idaho and Lanna (Michael) Matthews of Sheridan, Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Colleen was preceded in death by her husbands Curly, Dale and Noel; grandson Jason Obert; great grandson Joesph Krcil; and son-in-law Frank Krcil.
