REBECCA ARMSTRONG

Rebecca “Becky” Armstrong, surrounded by family, peacefully joined her Savior on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Avera McKennan Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Rebecca Armstrong, daughter of Lloyd and Beverly Weeg, was born August 19, 1952 in Annis-ton, Alabama. Becky grew up in Buena Park, California, where she attended and graduated from Western High School. She was part of the school choir as she loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. Becky then attended Fullerton College where she studied business management. She then met and married Mathew Bernard. Together they had two wonderful children before his passing.

Becky later moved to be closer to her parents in Lake Andes where she met and married Gerald “Gary” Carda on July 11, 1980. Becky was part of the choir, a catechism teacher with St. Marks Church, and was part of Ladies Auxiliary. Around 1988 they moved to Sioux Falls. Becky was part of the community theater for a short time, and was in the play My Fair Lady. She also went to the Minnesota Renaissance Fair with the theater group. Becky took up bowling and was part of many teams, which later led her to running two of the local bowling tournaments until the passing of Gary in 2007. Becky became part of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish, and not long after met David Armstrong. It is said that God brought them together when they both needed the other the most. David and Becky were united in marriage on December 19, 2015, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish. Becky enjoyed being part of the rosary group, served as Eucharistic Minister, and a Greeter.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, David Armstrong of Sioux Falls; daughter, Heather Carda of Sioux Falls; son, Joshua (Tomoko) Carda of Sioux Falls; granddaughters, Makayla Gullickson, Sofia, Seiran and Scarlett Carda; mother, Beverly Weeg of Sioux Falls; one sister, Debbie (David) Franssens of Sioux Falls; three brothers, Jim (Grace) Weeg of Sioux Falls, Forrest (Lynelle) Weeg of Tea, and Matthew (Erika) Weeg of Salt Lake City, UT.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Carda; and her father, Lloyd Weeg.
