LORENA ARROW ABDO

Lorena Arrow Abdo, 32, of Lake Andes died Sunday, July 7, 2019 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Wake services were Sunday and Monday at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Native American Church Prayer Services were Tuesday at the Joe Abdo Sr. residence, rural Lake Andes. Last viewing was Wednesday at the Abdo residence with graveside services Wednesday at the Native American Church Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Lorena Elizabeth Arrow-Ab-do was born November 11, 1986 in Yankton to Fred Arrow Sr. and Shirley Abdo-Arrow. Most of Lorena’s life, she grew up in the White Swan Community, Lake Andes. Lorena is a princess direct descendent of Chief Smuddy Bear, Chief Wahinkepe, Chief Whirlwind Soldier and Chief Luke Arrow. She was an active member of the Yankton Sioux Crossfire Native American Church.

Lorena attended school at Andes Central where she graduated in 2004. She completed one year of college at Sinte Gleska/ICC. Lorena’s passion was cooking and baking. Her cooking skills were known locally and state-wide. She was a cook at Abby’s in Pickstown. Lorena’s companion was Ronald Fischer Jr. for 18 years.

Lorena was a mother to her son Ronald Fischer III, also an amazing Auntie Mom to her nieces and nephews. All the children in the home and community loved Auntie Raena. Lorena was known for her joking sense of humor and caring, loving heart. She always had a bright smile and caring, loving heart.

Lorena was very family oriented. Her heart belonged to the children. She was a protector for the children. She always made sure the children were fed and safe. The proudest moment of her life was the birth of her son Ronnie.

Lorena is survived by her parents; Fred and Shirley, brothers: Fred Arrow Jr., Kyle, Josh, Clayton and Adrian, sisters: Josetta Caple, Angela Rodriguez, Cindy Schunk, Rhea Alcaraz, Christine Arrow, Elaine Arrow and Heather Eagle Pipe-Arrow.

Lorena was preceded in death by her sister Sarah Ann Arrow and her brother Scott Arrow, maternal grandparents: Joseph Abdo Sr. and Beulah Trudell Abdo, paternal grandparents: Delmar Arrow Sr. and Elizabeth Whirlwind Soldier-Arrow.
