ROGER FRANKENSTEIN

Roger Wayne Frankenstein, 80, formerly of Dante passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in Florence, South Carolina, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Funeral services are Tuesday, February 3 at 10:30 a.m. at the American Legion Hall in Wagner. Burial is in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Hall, 107 2nd St SW, Wagner, SD 57380. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Roger was born on October 28, 1945, to Melvin and Ruth Frankenstein. He grew up on a family farm in Tulare, and graduated from Tulare High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he proudly entered the United States Navy in May of 1964, serving until November of 1966.
Following his Vietnam tour, Roger returned to Hurona, where he met the love of his life, Mary Agnes. The two were united in marriage December 28, 1968, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, hard work, and devotion to family.
Roger spent many years doing what he loved most, driving truck and traveling the open road. His career took him across countless miles and memories until his retirement in December of 2021. He was a proud member of ABATE of South Dakota, the VFW, and the American Legion, organizations that reflected his strong sense of camaraderie, service, and loyalty.
He is survived by his daughter Robyn; sons Tom (Marla) and Roger (Ann); his 13 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and his sister, Janice Kiker (Jim).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Ruth; his beloved wife, Mary Agnes; his son, Rodney (Sonnie); and his brothers, Stanley and Richard.
Roger will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his dedication to his family, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
