JILL GROGAN

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jill Marlene Wepking Grogan, who departed this world in Sioux Falls, on January 7, 2025. Jill Marlene Wepking was born on May 26, 1947, in Freeport, Illinois to Barbara Erdmier Wepking and Milo Wepking. At the age of one her family moved to Avon and then to Springfield where they initially lived on the top floor of Summit Hall on the campus of Southern State Teacher College. Jill attended the Springfield school system through the 8th grade then the family moved to Sioux Falls where Jill graduated from Washington High School in 1965. She graduated from Lincoln School of Commerce, Lincoln, NE in 1966. In 1972, Jill married Donald Grogan, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. They were blessed with a daughter, Kelly Grogan Buckle who lives with her husband, Joe, in Bismarck, ND. Jill had another daughter, Jean Lehman who lives with her husband, Johnny, in Williston, FL. Jill had a distinguished career as an Executive Secretary. She started her professional journey at the Pentagon in Washington, DC. After marriage she moved to Colorado and worked for the Colorado Rockies Hockey Team. Over the years, she held various positions in California at First Presbyterian Church, St. Jude Medical Center, Orange County Vascular Group, and other companies retiring in 2008 when Don and Jill moved to Avon where her mother, Barbara and her brother, Jeff Wepking and family lived. After Don’s death Jill moved to be closer to her sister Jan Thomas who now lives in Phoenix, AZ. Jill moved back to Sioux Falls in 2022. While in Avon, Jill and Donald were deeply involved in the community. Jill devoted countless hours as a member of the City Council and other community projects, always trying to make a positive impact. Jill will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering support to those around her. She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara, father Milo, and husband Donald. She is survived by her daughters Kelly and Jean, sister Jan, brother Jeff, sister-in-law Monica, nieces Macall (Eric) Stenson of Phoenix, AZ, Jenn Doeden of Milford, IA, and Nikki (Aron) Petersen of Watertown, SD. She is survived by nephew, Jon (Jamie) Wepking, Moorhead, MN. Jill is also survived by great nieces Harper Stenson, Nora and Drew Wepking and great nephews Colton and Mason Stenson and Easton and Maverick Doeden all of whom she adored. A Celebration of Life for Jill will be announced at a future date.
