Funeral services for Marilyn Redlightning were Tuesday, March 15 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn Joyce Redlightning passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Wagner Community Hospital. Marilyn was born September 5, 1956 in Rosebud, to Ruby Jandreau and Louie Brings Three White Horses and was the third child of six children.

Marilyn attended various schools in South Dakota: Wahehe 86 in Greenwood, Todd County Schools in Mission and Wagner Community School. She also completed two years of school at California State University in California.

Marilyn worked at the San Bernardino County Hospital in San Bernardino, CA in medical records for fifteen years. She then moved back to South Dakota and worked at the Indian Health Service in Wagner for fifteen years as a certified coder and billing clerk.

Marilyn married Frank Vasquez and to that marriage were born: Angela White Horse and Hillary Perez. Marilyn married Michael Redlightning Sr. on May 8, 1999. To this union was born Michael Redlightning Jr.

Marilyn enjoyed visiting her children, grandchildren, family and friends. In addition to this, she enjoyed traveling and seeing new places, especially casinos. She loved to bake cakes and cupcakes with all of her grandchildren when they were young. She also enjoyed spending time with her beloved Chihuahua Warrior. He was her number one. Marilyn was loved by her family and friends. She had a laugh that would bring joy to all around her.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Mike and children: Angela White Horse, Hillary Perez and Michael Redlightning Jr.; step-children: Martin Redlightning, Terry Redlightning and Heather (Eric) Knight; siblings: Patricia Carda, Richard White Horse, Connie (James) Vallie, Janice (Chris Jenkens) White Horse, Wyatt White Horse and many family and friends. Marilyn had 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Ruby; sisters: Karen and Beverly; her brother Morgan; maternal grandparents Albert Jandreau Sr. and Adeline (Archambeau Jandreau) LaPointe; paternal grandparents Arthur White Horse and Millie Menard.
