Bob died Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held 1p.m., Wednesday, October 27 at the American Legion Hall in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home in Avon is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Dale Chrans was born on April 24, 1947 in Presho to Donald and Anna (Peterson) Chrans and died October 5 at the age of 74. His early years were spent living in and around Yankton. His high school years he lived with Newell and Sue McCoy and attended Keya Paha County High School, graduating with the class of 1966. In August of that year he married his high school sweetheart, Betty Hallock and to this union four children were born, Dana Rochelle, Eric Shawn, Darci Renee and Jason Robert. The family lived in several towns in South Dakota and Nebraska before returning to Springview. Bob worked for several years at the local coop before starting his own feed business. He eventually got his gaming license and worked for several years at the Pickstown Casino as a blackjack and poker dealer and eventually became pit boss of the poker room.

In August of 2006 Bob married Mary Corey and inherited her two children, Amber and Jay.

Bob was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman, and card player. His evenings and weekends were filled with these activities along with attending his children's sporting events. He was also a well known practical joker and most all family and friends were on the receiving end of his humor. Later in life he also learned to cook and when his failing eyesight prevented him from hunting and fishing he filled his time in the garden and kitchen.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Donald, sisters Donna, Sharon, Carol and Janice.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary, Avon. Children Dana Jackson, Waverly, NE, Eric Chrans, Clinton, CT, Darci (John) Lee, Brownlee, NE, Jason Chrans, Waverly, NE, stepchildren Amber (Dustin) Longe, Lake Andes and Jay (Faye) Corey, Avon, grandchildren, Kyle, Jessica, Tyler (Courtney), Torey (fiance Cortney), Justin (fiance Adrianna), Shelby (Andrew), Tiana, Halle, Kipp, Jaycee, Matias, Kasen, Kameron, Lorenzo (fiancé Kaitlyn), Reno, and Jaiden and great-grandchildren Kiara, Sophia, Harper, Raelynn, Declan, and Adelyn, sisters Linda Witt, North Platte, NE and Pam Riche, Yankton and several nieces and nephews.
