MAVIS REYNOLDS
Mavis (Brown Bear) Reynolds, 77, of Lake Andes, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at her home in Lake Andes. Wake services were at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Funeral Services were Tuesday, July 17 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements. Mavis Marlene Reynolds was born April 15, 1941, the daughter of Alma Rachel Rouse and John Brunot Brown Bear. She grew up in the Marty area until she graduated high school from Ravinia. She went on to attend Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, KS. After graduating, she went on to work for the Indian Health Services in Wagner. She also worked at the Mission Boarding School in Mission, as a Dorm Parent. She then worked at the Methodist Hospital in Mitchell in medical records. Mavis worked at the Pierre Indian Learning Center until she retired in 2006. She returned to the Wagner area to be near her sister, Blossom. She is survived by her four sons: Byron, John, David and Trevor; three grandchildren: Adrian Lee Reynolds of Aberdeen, Trey Reynolds Grannes of Pierre, Taylor Rain Reynolds Grannes of Pierre; one living sister, Blossom Hubbeling of Lake Andes. Mavis is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Myron Kent Brown Bear; one grandson, Trevor Genesis Reynolds; seven sisters: Sybil, June, Pearl, Ruth, Clara, Melda and Bertha; and one brother, John David Brown Bear.
