MARJORIE ANDERSON
Funeral services for Marjorie Anderson, 95, of Wagner, will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 29 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to: Avera @ Home Hospice Program, 501 Summit Ave. Yankton, SD 57078.
Marjorie was born on the family farm Nov. 23, 1927 to Joseph and Amy (Jones) Soulek. She joined a brother, Robert, and two sisters, June and Florence. Marjorie attended Lake Andes and Ravinia High Schools; graduating from Ravinia. Her elementary years were spent attending a country school south of Lake Andes.
On August 20, 1946 she married John “Jack” Anderson at Yankton. The couple farmed near Ravinia with Jack’s father, Chris Anderson, for one year. They then moved to Wagner where Jack worked at Crab’s Station and Marjorie was a sale’s clerk. The couple moved to Pickstown in 1948. Jack delivered fuel to contractors building the Ft. Randall Dam. This started his career with the Corps of Engineers. It was here where Marjorie gave birth to their two children, Randall and Nancy. Marjorie loved being a devoted wife and mother, taking great pride in her family. She loved being outdoors in her garden and flower beds. Marjorie always had a great love for animals which she passed on to her children. In 1968 the family moved to Wagner where Jack operated the Standard Oil Station. Marjorie was the bookkeeper. Jack passed away on January 10, 1996 after nearly 50 years of marriage. Marjorie entered the Wagner Good Samaritan Center in June 2018. She was moved to the Scotland center after the fire at WGS Center this Fall. She passed away there December 15th, after recently celebrating her 95th birthday.
Marjorie is survived by her two children: Randall and wife Peg of Yankton and Nancy Reinbold of Wagner; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, brother Robert Soulek, two sisters: June Wright and Florence Rozell; her son-in-law Jim Reinbold and one great grandchild, Mariah Anstine.
