Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 25, at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Inurnment will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery in Wagner at a later date. Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Julie Ann Giedd was born March 18, 1963 in Yankton, the daughter of Albert Jr. and Sharon (Bucholz) Giedd. She died unexpectedly on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at her home in Merna, NE.

Julie attended Rouse Township Country School until the eighth grade. She graduated from Avon High School in 1981. Julie ran a home day care in Yankton for several years. Julie had a love for animals which led her to a career in working in feed lots taking care of cattle. She was a “mother” figure to many while working in the feed lots.

Julie had a special passion for horses. She loved going on trail rides, team penning and participating in rodeos along with her kids. Julie attended the French Creek Horse Camp for many years in Custer State Park. She also loved her dogs and cats. Julie will be remembered for her love for her kids and grandkids, her laugh and smiles, her strong will, and for being a very hard working woman who always stayed true to herself. She had love of God and prayed for her family every night. Thankful for having shared her life are her four kids: Dan (Amanda) Novak of Davenport, IA and their daughter Taytum, Derek (Katie) Novak of Parker and their children Kaylee, Easton and Riggs, Sheldon Moysis of Sioux Falls and Becky Sieverding of Humboldt; parents Albert Jr. and Sharon Giedd of Wagner; her siblings: Cherly (Randy) Odenbach of Gregory, Sandy Stahl of Avon, and Alan (Kim) Giedd of Wagner; aunts and uncles: Vernon (Carolyn) Giedd of Lake Andes, Roy (Lori) Giedd of Lake Andes, close and supportive friend Brad Konacek of Wisner, NE and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Julie was preceded in death by her sister Debbie Gill, nephew Jason Wynia, grandparents Roy and Elda Giedd, grandmother Bernice Shaw, grandfather Albert Giedd, Sr. and aunt Delores Heggemeyer.
