Funeral Mass for Joan Woods, 82, of Wagner was Saturday, June 1 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Joan Delores Woods was born in Wagner on December 21, 1936, the daughter of James and Lillian (Wagner) Efta. She died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at her home in Wagner.

Joan graduated from Wagner High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Norman Thomas Woods on September 20, 1954 at Wagner. Together they farmed and raised their family of 12 kids southwest of Wagner until they retired and moved into Wagner in April of 1996.

Joan was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Joan will be remembered for her love of card games, board games (especially Scrabble), puzzles, quilting, sewing, baking/cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Norman of Wagner, 11 children: Terri (Alvin) Rezac of Dante, Cheryl (Harvey) Smith of Mt. Vernon, Doug (Mitsy) Woods of Lake Andes, Tammy (Mike) Swanson of Lake Andes, Julie (Jerald) Dennis of Bristow, NE, Frank (Joanne) Woods of Piedmont, Stephenie (Roger) Cuka of Wagner, Steve Woods of North Branch, MN, Val Fredrich of Mitchell, Paula (Rick) Brandner of Mitchell, and Dana Woods of Wagner; 33 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; two brothers: Tony Efta of Wagner and Leonard Efta of AK; two sisters: Joyce (Jerome) Sanders of WA and Louise Mika of AK; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, son David Woods; granddaughter Sara Swanson; five sisters and five brothers.
