Funeral services for David Brown, 81, of Wagner, will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 22 at the East Lake Andes Lutheran Church, rural Lake Andes. Burial will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

David James Brown was born March 13, 1942 to Guy and Dorothy (Rasmusson) Brown in Sioux Falls. Dave died peacefully August 16, 2024 in his home east of Wagner.

Dave attended school in Geddes until his junior year when his family moved to Lake Andes. He graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1961. While growing up, Dave’s family ran the grocery store in Geddes until moving to Lake Andes where they then ran the bowling alley. Dave and Karen began dating in 1961.

After graduating, he went to DeVries Electronic School in Chicago. Dave served in the National Guard.

On August 3, 1973, Dave married Karen Kaberna in the Presbyterian Church in Lake Andes. To this union they had two daughters, Kelli and Kasi.

Dave worked in plumbing and construction for many years. He started to help his father-in-law farm. Dave later worked for Harris and Sharon Haar while continuing to farm.

Dave was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and Shriners. He was also a member of the Wagner Saddle Club. Dave was an honorary member of the Dante Lake Club and enjoyed it very much.

Dave will be remembered for his wit, jokes, and orneriness. He enjoyed his old westerns and cowboy shows. Dave loved going to rodeos with his family. He was a good cook and was very fussy about his food. Dave enjoyed solitaireand traveling.

Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Karen; daughters: Kelli (Courtney) Pazour and Kasi (Steven) Fousek; grandchildren: Tyler, Koltin, Tessa, and Kaelee; aunt, Edna Darby; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; aunts and uncles.
