CONNIE HOPKINS

Connie Hopkins, 21, of Sioux Falls died Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral services were Wednesday, September 21 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Burial was in St. Phillip’s Episcopal Cemetery, Lake Andes. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Connie Joy Anna Marie Hopkins was born on June 4, 2001 to her Ina Amber Marie Boyd and her Ate´ Armand Joseph Hopkins Jr. Connie was living in Sioux Falls with her two daughters Kayliyanah Skylei Jo Marie Hopkins and Cante´ Skuya Marie Shields and her mother Amber “bust em up Boyd”. Connie attended school both in Lake Andes and Sioux Falls. She was working at Plato’s Closet with her baby sister Josie.

Connie was definitely the main character in the family. She was a very energetic person who was always on the go. She had a sense of humor that nobody could match. She was always laughing and telling jokes. She was the light in any room she entered with her big, pretty smile. She was a very loyal, beautiful, traditional woman. She enjoyed going to powwows with her grandpa Wendell & her little sister Josie, attending Sun-Dances and learning about her cultural ways. She often tried to teach her baby girls how to count in Lakota and teach them different words.

No matter where Connie was or who she was with she was never afraid to speak what was on her mind. She told you exactly how it was and never let you live down any moment. She was a big family girl. She was always asking to do something whether it be going to her sister’s house, taking her kids to the park, driving around in her car blaring the loudest music she could or even just coming over to your house to yell at you.

Connie was adored and loved by many. She was always making friends anywhere she went. If you were going through a hard time, Connie would make sure you get through it. You could always count on her to have your back. Her laugh and jokes always made anyone’s day better. Connie loved when her siblings got together because it would turn into everyone crying from laughter. It would always be someone picking on someone or making jokes about each other. Connie enjoyed bugging her siblings for anything from food, to five bucks, to buying her a pickle. She never played about her pickles. She enjoyed trying foods from Tik-Tok. Her siblings loved to call her “big girl” because she was always eating something when you seen her or she was always asking to get something to eat.
