BAILEY OLSON
Bailey Olson, 28, of Mitchell, passed away Friday, November 15 in Mitchell. Funeral services were held Friday, November 22, at RiverTree Church in Mitchell/ Arrangements by Bittner Funeral Chapel.
Bailey Allen Olson was born January 7, 1996, to Travis and Kari (Standy) Olson in Mitchell. He graduated from Platte Geddes High School in 2014. He then attended Mitchell Tech for wind turbine technology and later for human services.
Bailey married Krista (Winckler) on October 13, 2018, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Lake Andes. Bailey and Krista lived in Sioux Falls prior to moving to Mitchell in December 2017.
Bailey had a kind soul whose love and acceptance touched everyone he met. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued, never judging, and always loving. His heart was as big as his smile. He was the light in all dark moments, strong, comforting, and genuine. Bailey was an amazing father, and his kids enjoyed having Bailey chase them until he was able to finally catch them. He was especially fond of his three cats (Lola, Millie, and Nala). On top of everything, he treasured his time with his family the most. Bailey greatly enjoyed working at James Valley Nursery. He especially loved working with irrigation systems and working outside. He most recently worked at Hog Slat.
Bailey is survived by his wife, Krista; daughter, Alayah; son, Ryker; daughter, Elise; parents, Travis and Kari; brother, Blaine (Lexi) Olson of Fort Thompson; sister, Blair Olson of Platte, sister in law, Jenna (Chris) Leibel of Wagner, and Kellie (Adrien) Heiter of Yankton; nephew, Asher Heiter; niece, Zoey Heiter; father in-law and mother in-law, Randy and Carla Winckler; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandma, Kathryn “Kathy” Standy, and uncle, Kurtis Standy.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have offered their support, love, and kindness during this difficult time. Your thoughts, prayers, and assistance have been deeply appreciated, and we are grateful to have you in our lives. Please consider this a personal thank you from all of us.
