On Friday and Saturday, May 3rd and 4th, Wagner took some select athletes to Sioux Falls to compete in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.

Read moreTreyvan and Terran Talsma were among the 87 contestants competing at the South Dakota High School Cuatro Crown Rodeo that was held this past weekend in Wagner, Burke and Geddes. Terran earned 2nd in Calf Roping in Wagner's event with a time of 11.56, and Terran led in Steer Wrestling with a time of 5.40. In Burke's second event, Terran led in Steer Wrestling with a 5.86, followed by Treyvan at 6.20; Team Roping had Treyvan and Terran in 2nd with a time of 13.50; Tie Down Roping found Terran in 2nd with a time of 12.17. In Geddes' Sunday event, Terran took the win in Steer Wrestling at 7.71, with Treyvan in 4th at 20.88; Team Roping found Treyvan and Terran taking 1st with a time of 12.56; Tie Down Roping had Terran in 1st with a time of 11.56. Terran was named Cuatro Crown All Around, Burke All Around in the 2nd Performance, and Geddes All Around. Treyvan earned third All Around. Congratulations on a great weekend! Read moreThe Lady Pirates battled Scotland/ Menno in an impromptu Softball game at Parkston on Tuesday night. The final score was Scotland/Menno 9 and Avon 3. Macy Voigt was on the Hill for the Pirates and struck out 8 in 4 innings. Jordyn Voigt had 2 hits and 1 RBI while Karli Devries had 1 hit and 2 RBI’s. Kaeli Wallinga, Macy Voigt, and Abby Gretschmann all added 1 hit apiece.
Read moreThe Wagner Red Raiders hosted the Freeman/Marion/Freeman Academy Phoenix on Monday April 22nd and came up short losing 6-15. Wagner tied the game in the bottom of the first 3-3 with singles by Lydia Yost and Ravyn Medricky. Lydia Yost scored with a nice RBI by Brylie Link. Libby Kotab hit a line drive to left field scoring Sydney Cournoyer, who got on by walk, and Medricky. In the bottom of the 4th Hannah Holzbauer singled on a line drive to center. Kayden Zephier reached 2nd after a hard ground ball and an error by the defense, scoring Holzbauer on the same play. Lydia Yost added a double on a line drive to left field, but her and Zephier were both left on base to end the inning. To bring the score within one Link reached on an error by the first basemen, Kotab walked, Brooklin Nielsen singled, and Mia Dion singled as well scoring Link and Kotab. Yost and Braxton Nedved added a base hit, advancing runners, but were all left on. The Phoenix had an inning of good hits and ran away with the lead in the top of the 6th. Hannah Holzbauer pitched for Wagner, striking out five and walking seven. The defense played a solid game and really worked together turning two double plays.
