Over the years I have generally been supportive of our Game, Fish, & Parks Department. However, the recent changes in our coming pheasant season by SDGF&P have me scratching my head. From our governor on down, most everyone has been trying to bring back our pheasant numbers. So what did our SDGF&P folks do? We know that pheasants are easier to find/kill in the morning. Now we are going to begin our hunting earlier in the day. The season has been lengthened, and both the daily limit and the possession limits have been increased. How are these changes going to increase our pheasant population?

Read moreThe 4th Annual Charles Mix Saddle Club SDRA Rodeo was held Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19 at Geddes with some great performances. Friday night spectators enjoyed mixed team roping, bareback, steer wrestling, goat tying, saddle bronc, calf roping, ladies breakaway, ranch bronc riding, senior men's breakaway, team roping, barrel racing, team penning and the night ended with the bull riding. Read moreFor dinner yesterday we had deep-fried catfish fillets, potato salad, and fresh spinach. There were no walleye fillets on the platter to compete with the catfish, and I was surprised, actually shocked, at how much I enjoyed those catfish.
