Three Lake Andes Firefighters attended a one-day electric vehicle training class in Garretson on Friday, August 23. Fire Chief, Rod Bergin, Jeremiah Freidel and Jacob Wenzlaff attended training that focused on electric vehicle fires and accidents. The SD State Fire Marshal’s office had distributed the training flyer to fire departments throughout the state and when the Lake Andes Fire Department heard about it decided there was a growing need in the area for this type of training.

The Avon Park Festival will featurelegendaryrockandroll band, Ivory on Wednesday, September4thfrom7p.m.until 9 p.m. at the Avon City Park. In addition to Ivory, Joslynn Rose from the 24th season of “The Voice” will also perform. There will be food vendors on site. All that anyone wanting to enjoy the event needs to bring is a lawn chair. Keep the coolers at home as the Avon Fire Department will have a variety of beverages available for purchase.
