Wednesday, June 1st at 1:00-3:00 the Library will be holding sign up for Summer Programming and the Summer Reading program. If you cannot attend on Wed, please contact the library to sign up. Children must participate to be eligible to attend the Incentive trip to Yankton in August. In conjunction with the sign up we will have a presentation by Liz Julian from the US Fish and Wildlife Service taking place from 1-3 on the Library lawn or at the Community Center if it rains. Read moreMore than 500 Vietnam veterans, including one from South Dakota, will be inducted into the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund’s (VVMF) In Memory Program in 2022. Since the Vietnam War ended, thousands of Vietnam veterans have suffered due to Agent Orange exposure, PTSD and other illnesses as a result of their service. VVMF believes all those who served in Vietnam should be honored and remembered for their service. The In Memory program enables the families and friends of those who came home and later died the opportunity to have them be forever memorialized.

Read moreA total of 348 students at Mitchell Technical College have been placed on the Spring Semester 2022 President’s List, according to MTC President Mark Wilson. Of these 348 students, 127 earned a 4.0 GPA. High Honors-H2 (3.75-3.99) were awarded to 93 students and 128 students earned Honors-H1 (3.5-3.749). To be named to the list, students must earn a term GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and completed at least 12 credit hours of academic work during the semester.

Read moreThe LifeServe Blood Center blood drive held in Avon on Thursday, May 24th, had a fantastic turn-out! 20 donors registered and 21 units of life saving blood was donated. Thank you to everyone that came out to help boost the LOCAL blood supply! The units donated at the blood drive can help save up to 63 lives! There were several milestone donors, who are listed below and a special thanks to Dave and Sandy Brandt and Zion Lutheran Church for sponsoring and hosting the blood drive.
