Yet today I considermyself theluckiestmanonthefaceof theearth.” The bad break he was referring to was the diagnosis of a condition that would become synonymous with him - a neuromuscular condition called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a disease which causes motor nerves in the brain and spinal cord to break down. This reduces the nerves ability to control muscle function leading the muscle to weaken, twitch, and waste away. As the disease progresses it slowly impairs the person’s ability to walk, talk, swallow, and breathe.
Read moreThe Avon Swim team held a Football Tailgate supper Friday, September 8th from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. before the Avon vs. Gayville -Volin home football game. They served walking tacos, homemade desserts and drinks. It was a free-will donation. Coach Becky Haenfler and the swim team parents appreciate Bryce Voigt for donating the chips for the walking tacos. It was a very successful fundraiser, the team raised almost half of their goal. The teams next fundraiser will be coming up yet this month; they will be selling cookie dough.

Pat Abdouch has owned and operated Abbys for the past twenty-five years, purchasing the store on April 15, 1998. She and her long-time partner Richard (Dick) Fuchs have both been permanent fixtures at Abbys. Pat has enjoyed being in the hospitality industry since she was 13. She has enjoyed meeting all the people throughout the years and being able to serve them like family when they visit.
