The library has added dozens of books in the children’s library, including books for babies (cardboard books) story books for Preschool children all the way up to 10th graders. Remember the reading promotion ”Blizzard of Books” is open until March 22nd and the prizes for reading are great! Come in to sign up and pick up a new book.
Read moreYouth ages 5-19 that are interested in poultry and/or rabbits are invited to join Fur & Feather Classes at the 4-H Center in Tyndall! We plan to hold monthly classes to help 4-H youth with their small animal projects. We will have lots of fun as we learn about the selection, care, breeding and exhibition of rabbits and poultry.

AHS Drama Club traveled to Mitchell on Tuesday, January 26th where they competed in the Regional One Act Competition. We were able to secure 2nd place, which means we advanced to the State One-Act Festival. They performed on Saturday, February 6th in Brookings (results were not available at time of publication.) Actors who do an outstanding job are given a Superior Actor Medal. In order to earn this medal, an actor has to be deemed superior by at least 2 out of 3 judges. Avon had 4 actors receive this medal at the regional contest. Noah Watchorn and Rachael DeJong were nominated by all three judges, while Caleb Wallinga and Haleigh Tjeerdsma were nominated by two judges. Other actors nominated by one judge, but not receiving awards included Haley Gillette, Kley Heumiller and Kiara Driesen.
